The Education Ministry is prepared to meet with any party to address any misunderstandings regarding the implementation of the “Imam Al-Nawawi’s 40 Hadith” appreciation module in schools nationwide.
Deputy Minister Lim Hui Ying (pic) stated that the confusion arose when certain non-governmental organizations (NGOs) expressed their concerns over the module’s implementation, which led to various speculations.
She added that the module’s implementation would only involve Muslim teachers and students.
“So they (including NGOs) need not worry. I understand their concerns, but we at the ministry are ready to meet and discuss with them. Everyone is aware that this Hadith 40 module is specifically for Muslim students and teachers. We at the ministry hope that this issue will not be exaggerated,” she told reporters after visiting Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Cheng Siu 1 and 2 on Sunday (Aug 27).
When asked about the shortage of teachers in SJKC and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT), Lim said that the ministry is currently addressing the issue.
She mentioned that the ministry has obtained data from six states – Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kedah, and Perlis – and will start collecting data in Johor on Sept 7.
“Actually, the shortage of teachers is not only a problem in SJKC and SJKT but also in national primary schools, specifically in subjects like English, Bahasa Melayu, and Islamic Education,” she said. – Bernama
