CAIRO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) — The sixth edition of Egypt’s El Gouna Film Festival (GFF), originally delayed due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, has been rescheduled to take place from Dec. 14-21 after the addition of a program specially focused on Palestinian films, as announced by the organizers on Sunday.
According to a statement from the GFF administration, the newly added program, organized in collaboration with the Palestine Film Institute, aims to shine a spotlight on the current situation and “inhumane conditions in Gaza.”
In addition, a fundraising dinner is in the works to collect donations for humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza, in partnership with the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, during the festival, as mentioned in the statement.
The administration further emphasized that the festival, which had been postponed on two occasions, will be conducted without any form of celebrations, reiterating its solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The GFF’s primary goal is to present a diverse range of films to audiences while promoting greater cross-cultural understanding through the artistic medium of filmmaking.
