PETALING JAYA: About 192 victims have been placed in eight temporary flood relief centres (PPS) in three districts in Penang due to the flash floods.
According to the Penang Civil Defence Force, the operation involves the north, central and south Seberang Prai districts.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday (Sept 17) it said that in the central Seberang Prai district, four families comprising 22 victims were placed at the Sk Penanti PPS, while eight families consisting of 26 people and four families of 15 people were placed at the Dewan Bukit Teh and SMK Permatang Rawa PPS respectively.
It also said that in south Seberang Prai, six families were placed at the Dewan Sg Bakap PPS and 14 families were placed at the Dewan MPKK Sanglang PPS.
In the Northern Seberang Perai district, the victims were placed at the Dewan Banjir Labuh Banting PPS (14 families), SK Lahar Yooi (four families) and Sekolah Agam Rakyat Nyior Sebatang PPS (five families).
The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) earlier issued a continuous rain warning for four states, namely Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak, which is expected to last until Sept 21.
