SHAH ALAM: Empowering women is a key focus for the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional partnership in Selangor, according to their manifesto.
Datuk Amirudin Shari, Selangor PKR chairman, announced that the alliance has pledged to provide RM1,000 annually to mothers through the Wanita Kita Selangor Initiative.
During his presentation of the Tawaran Kita Selangor: 5 Tekad untuk 5 Tahun (Our Offer Selangor: 5 Determinations for 5 Years) pledges, Amirudin emphasized the importance of empowering women, particularly mothers, in the state.
“We want to ensure that women are not hindered from earning a living and have a source of income, even if they have to work from home to care for their children,” said Amirudin.
He explained that the annual RM1,000 aid will enable mothers to have more freedom in their work.
Amirudin stated that with this financial support, mothers will also feel more confident about their children’s safety, as they can enroll them in childcare centers or hire assistance when they need to be away.
“In this way, women can also contribute to the economy,” added Amirudin, highlighting the importance of empowering women, which is a shared challenge for both Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional.
Additionally, the manifesto also includes initiatives to register and train child caregivers, as well as provide childcare facilities at state government offices and local councils.
Private sector workplaces will also be offered incentives to establish their own childcare facilities.
