Exclusive-US believes missile inside Russia likely shot down Prigozhin's presumed plane, US officials say

The United States suspects that the plane carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of a mercenary group, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile originating from inside Russia, according to two anonymous U.S. officials who spoke to Reuters on Thursday. The officials emphasized that this information is still preliminary and subject to review.

On Wednesday, Russian air authorities reported that Prigozhin, along with his associate Dmitry Utkin and eight other individuals, were on board a private plane that crashed north of Moscow, resulting in no survivors.
