According to two sources familiar with the intelligence, intercepts collected by the United States have confirmed that Islamic State’s (ISIS) Afghanistan-based branch was responsible for twin bombings in Iran, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 people.
One of the sources stated, “The intelligence is clear cut and indisputable.”
Both sources, who requested anonymity, revealed that the intelligence consisted of communications intercepts but did not provide further details. This collection of intercepts had not been previously reported.
