SHAH ALAM: A meeting will be held with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain next week to strengthen and empower the monitoring unit related to 3R (royalty, religion, and race) issues. Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that the meeting would discuss the monitoring unit’s round-the-clock operations. The need for such a unit arose due to concerns over actions by individuals following the recent arrest of a political figure.
“When the individual was arrested by the authorities, I was informed around midnight the same day that a photograph of several men sitting at a table with a device, together with a photo of the detained political figure, had gone viral on the TikTok application,” Fahmi Fadzil said.
Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude towards TikTok for immediately taking down the content without any direction or request. The photograph depicted an axe and a keris at the corner of the table, which Fahmi Fadzil perceived as a criminal threat. He informed the reporters about this incident during the Selangor Madani Community launch at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam on Sunday (July 23).
No police report has been lodged about the photo at this time, and the matter has been referred to Bukit Aman. Fahmi Fadzil cautioned against exploiting 3R issues for narrow political gains, reminding everyone that Malaysians are guided by the second principle of the Rukun Negara, which is loyalty to King and country. He emphasized the importance of rejecting actions that mock 3R issues and called for an immediate halt to any issue related to 3R.
Fahmi Fadzil had previously highlighted the need for a coordinated unit between law enforcement agencies, including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, the police, and social media platform providers, to deal with 3R issues. Additionally, MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd will explore ways to assist vendors and local artistes who reportedly suffered losses due to the cancellation of Good Vibes Festival 2023. The Unity Government announced the cancellation on Saturday (July 22) following offensive behavior by British band The 1975 during a concert at the festival.
