The incident reportedly took place on Sunday (July 9), and the video of the incident went viral on Wednesday (July 12).
“Upon reaching the Behrang rest and restoration area, the motorcyclists performed a dangerous maneuver by straightening their legs backward and riding in a prone position, reminiscent of Superman,” stated Supt Mohd Hasni, disclosing the initial findings of their investigation.
He further explained, “They were also observed rapidly changing lanes.”
Supt Mohd Hasni added that both individuals would be granted police bail while the investigation continues. The case is currently being probed under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act, which pertains to riding in a reckless and inconsiderate manner.
“If found guilty, they could face up to five years in prison and be fined a maximum of RM15,000,” warned Supt Mohd Hasni. “Additionally, they may have their licenses suspended for at least two years upon conviction.”
He added, “We urge everyone not to engage in dangerous actions on the road, as it goes against the law. By doing so, they not only put their own lives at risk but also endanger other road users.”
