IPOH: Two female motorcyclists have been apprehended by authorities for their alleged reckless behavior near KM375.9 of the North-South Expressway. The incident took place on Sunday (July 9), and a video capturing the incident went viral on Wednesday (July 12).
The two individuals, aged 19 and 21, who hail from Pulau Indah, Selangor, voluntarily presented themselves at the Muallim police station on Thursday (July 13) at approximately 9:10pm, according to Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir.
Supt Mohd Hasni stated that the two motorcyclists engaged in dangerous maneuvers reminiscent of Superman by extending their legs backward and adopting a prone position when they reached the Behrang rest and restoration area. Furthermore, they were seen zigzagging across the road.
After the completion of the investigations, both individuals will receive police bail. The case is being examined under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act, which pertains to reckless and inconsiderate riding. In the event of a conviction, the accused can face a maximum prison sentence of five years and a fine of up to RM15,000. Additionally, their licenses may be revoked for a minimum of two years.
Supt Mohd Hasni stressed the importance of not engaging in dangerous behavior on the road. Such actions not only pose a threat to the lives of those involved but also to other road users. It is crucial to abide by the law and prioritize everyone’s safety.
