KUALA LUMPUR: A factory director, aged 45, sustained injuries in a fire incident that occurred at two factories in Kepong.
The deputy director of the City Fire and Rescue Department, Rozihan Anwar Mamat, stated that upon receiving a distress call at 10.13am, a team of 50 personnel in eight fire engines was immediately dispatched to the scene.
“When we arrived at 10.23am, the fire had already engulfed a motorcycle spare parts factory as well as a plastic factory,” Mamat reported at the scene of the fire on Thursday (Aug 24).
Mamat further noted that the firemen successfully brought the blaze under control by 12.36pm.
“The motorcycle spare parts factory was completely destroyed, while the plastic factory sustained approximately 20% damage.
“We were able to prevent the spread of the fire to neighboring factories,” he added.
The victim, who held the position of director at the plastic factory, suffered 10% burns on both hands.
“He has been taken to Hospital Selayang for treatment,” he mentioned.
The firemen continued their inspection of the area to ensure there were no remaining fire embers.
At present, the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
