MOSCOW (Reuters) – A fertiliser warehouse fire in the town of Ramenskoye in Moscow region was successfully extinguished on Sunday, according to reports from Russia’s emergency service.
The fire had spread and covered an area of 2,700 square metres before it was contained and put out, as stated by Russian state news agency RIA.
Earlier video footage of the incident displayed thick black smoke and tall flames, visible from several hundred metres away.
The Moscow region prosecutor’s office revealed that the initial investigation suggests the fire was a result of fire safety violations during welding work, as reported by TASS state news agency.
The warehouse’s owners confirmed that all employees had evacuated the premises, according to the agency.
