The Armed Forces have increased their efforts to clean flood-affected Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Pasir Raja before the start of the new school session on Saturday (Dec 30).
A team of 33 members from Company C 18 of the Royal Malay Soldiers Regiment (Para) conducted the cleaning operation early on Saturday to ensure the school’s 53 students can resume their studies comfortably on Jan 2.
Raja Shahdan Musa, chairman of the SK Kampung Pasir Parent and Teachers Association, expressed his gratitude to the Armed Forces members for their willingness to assist in cleaning the school’s three blocks, which would have been difficult to manage without outside help.
“Our village experienced floods on Dec 23 and the Temporary Relief Centre (PPS) at Kampung Pasir Raja Community Hall was open from Dec 24 to 29. However, shortly after it closed at 5pm, the river overflowed again and the residents are now back at the PPS,” he said. “I am very grateful to the armed forces personnel for their volunteer work in cleaning our school.”
The Kampung Pasir Raja Community Hall PPS, which reopened after being closed at 5pm on Friday, is currently accommodating 66 evacuees from 24 families.- Bernama
