KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka has fully recovered from recent floods, marked by the closure of a temporary relief centre that housed 22 evacuees as of 1.30pm Wednesday (Oct 9).
Meanwhile, several other states have reported a reduction in evacuee numbers as of 4pm.
The Melaka Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat announced that the relief centre at SK Tehel in Jasin was closed after evacuees from Kampung Parit Lampong and Kampung Tanjong Laboh safely returned home.
In JOHOR, two relief centres, Dewan Kampung Kolam Air in Kluang and Kompleks Muafakat Kampung Sungai Pinggan in Pontian, were also closed, cutting the number of evacuees to 264 from 496 reported earlier.
JPBN chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said that remaining evacuees are at SK Seri Anom, SK Parit Markom in Pontian, SK Sungai Linau in Kluang, and SK Seri Bunut in Batu Pahat.

KEDAH saw a decrease in evacuees to 2,379 from 2,505 individuals earlier. State Civil Defence deputy director Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain reported that evacuees are housed in 20 centres across Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, and Pendang.
Centres in the Baling district were closed at 10am as water levels receded.
In PERAK, the state JPBN secretariat noted a drop in evacuees to 128 across two centres in the Kerian district. The Dewan Serbaguna Padang Tembak in Hilir Perak district was closed at 1.30pm.
In SELANGOR, relief centres in Kuala Selangor were closed by 1.15pm but remain on standby.
In PERLIS, evacuees decreased to 678 from 203 families, down from 686 reported earlier. State Civil Defence director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Izaimi Md Daud confirmed that five centres remain operational, with three in Arau and two in Kangar. – Bernama
