As of 8pm on Tuesday (Jan 9), the number of flood victims in Johor has continued to rise to 7,947 evacuees from 7,460 people at 4pm.
The Johor disaster management committee reported that these victims come from 2,196 families seeking shelter at 53 temporary relief centres in six districts.
The majority of the victims are from Kota Tinggi, with 4,705 people from 1,289 families placed at 26 relief centres in the district.
There was also a significant increase of victims in Johor Baru, where the number rose from 1,007 people at 4pm to 1,753 people at 8pm.
Other flood-affected districts include Kluang with 1,306 victims, Kulai (86), Segamat (75) and Pontian (22).
The relief centre with the highest number of victims is at SK Bukit Mutiara, here, with 431 people from three villages.
