In Mexico City, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador revealed that a series of wildfires have led to the tragic loss of at least four lives. These incidents occurred in Mexico state, the most heavily populated region in the nation, encircling the capital.
The president disclosed that a total of 116 forest fires are currently raging across the country, posing a significant threat to both human lives and the environment. The devastation caused by these fires is immense.
Statistics indicate that approximately 400 fires have been recorded in Mexico up to March 15, resulting in the destruction of over 13,000 hectares (32,000 acres) of land. Some of these infernos have even been reported as far south as Chiapas state, near the border with Guatemala.
It has been revealed through official data that the wildfires have been ignited by a combination of intentional arson and unintentional blazes triggered by agricultural activities.
Journalist Raul Cortes Fernandez provided this information, shedding light on the severity of the situation. The editing of his report was handled by Bill Berkrot, ensuring that the news is accurately conveyed to the public.
