The former chairman of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM), Abdullah CD, also known as Che Dat Anjang Abdullah, passed away on Saturday (Jan 13) at the age of 100 in Kampung Perdamaian Sukhirin, Narathiwat, Thailand.

Abdullah, who was originally from Lambor Kanan, Parit, Perak, died at 9:29am, with the news of his passing being confirmed by his son-in-law, Indra Djaja Abdullah.

Indra Djaja Abdullah shared the news of Abdullah CD’s passing through a Facebook post, stating, “Abdullah CD, former CPM chairman and founder of the 10th Regiment of Malayan People’s Army, returned to the Almighty this morning at the age of 100 years and three months.”

Abdullah CD joined the CPM in 1948 and received instructions from the top CPM leader, Chin Peng.

In 1989, the CPM laid down their weapons and emerged from the jungles at the Thai border, signing a peace treaty known as the Haadyai Peace Agreement, which brought an end to more than 40 years of armed conflict since the British emergency in 1948.
