PETALING JAYA: The body of former Education Minister Tan Sri Musa Mohamad was laid to rest at 10.40am on Sunday (June 9) in the Islamic Cemetery of Section 9, Kota Damansara.

Earlier, Musa’s body was first brought to Kota Damansara Mosque for funeral rites before being taken to the cemetery. The burial was attended by over 50 people, including family members, relatives, and friends.

His son-in-law Mohd Nordin Mat Sah expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped with the burial arrangements.

Musa, 81, who was also the former Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), passed away at 7.12pm on Saturday (June 8) at a private medical centre in Petaling Jaya due to multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.

He was the first non-politician to hold the position of Education Minister, which he held from 1999 to 2004.

In addition to his service at USM, Musa also held several key positions, including President of the Organisation of Ministers of Education in Southeast Asia from 2001 to 2003.

He was the former Chairman of Multimedia University and Chairman of the UCSI University Council. – Bernama
