There are reports from French TV station BFM TV that French farmers have been damaging food products that are being transported into France from other countries via trucks. This action is part of their ongoing protests to demand better pay and living conditions, and it shows no signs of stopping.
BFM TV has shown images of damaged fruit from Spain lying beside the A7 motorway in southern France. Many French farmers believe that they are facing unfair competition from overseas, which is impacting their livelihoods.
In addition to damaging imported food products, another group of farmers took to the RN12 major road artery near Paris in a convoy of tractors on Thursday morning. This demonstration is part of their continued threats to converge on the capital en masse.
These nationwide protests reflect the deep dissatisfaction and frustration felt by French farmers who are struggling to make a living. Sudip Kar-Gupta provided this report, with editing by Alex Richardson.
