KUALA TERENGGANU: A member of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) has pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu on Wednesday (Aug 30) to charges of robbery. Lance Corporal Mohd. Khuzairi Shaari, aged 43, made the plea before Judge Nooriah Osman. The robbery allegedly occurred last week when Mohd. Khuzairi was accused of robbing a grocer of a gold bracelet in Kampung Tok Bintang, Kuala Berang near Hulu Terengganu between 9.45pm and 10.30pm on August 23. If convicted, the charge under Section 392 of the Penal Code (Act 592) carries a maximum punishment of imprisonment for up to 14 years, a fine, or whipping.
Mohd. Khuzairi was granted bail of RM10,000 with one surety and was also ordered to report himself at the nearest police station on the first of every month. The court has scheduled October 2 for the case to be mentioned. The prosecution will be conducted by the deputy public prosecutor Nor Nabihah Hanim Ayim, while Mohd. Khuzairi will be represented by lawyer Mohd Hayatuddin Muhammad. – Bernama
