KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating the possibility that the children rescued from care homes linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) had been exposed to militant teachings, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

The Inspector-General of Police said an investigation was conducted following allegations that the children were shown a militant-themed video at the care homes.

“Despite not touching on this (militant teachings) issue throughout our operations on GISB, we are definitely heading towards that direction (in the investigation).

“We do know that the children were also shown videos of their leader ‘Abuya’ at the care homes,” he said when contacted on Sunday (Oct 13).

Previously, Selangor Islamic affairs and innovation development committee chairman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah had said that ‘jihad militant” teachings were spread by watching videos when the children had free time at the care homes.

It was reported that 625 people were rescued in an operation investigating GISB, codenamed Ops Global.

58 individuals, including the GISB chief executive officer, have been held under the Security Offences (Special Measures) (Sosma) 2012.

35 other GISB members are still being held under remand, while 273 individuals have been released on police bail.

37 others have been released unconditionally and two were handed over to the Kedah Islamic Affairs Department while another one was handed over to the Immigration department for deportation.

A total of 97 investigation papers were opened in the course of the operation since Sept 11.
