KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman will expedite investigations involving Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB), with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) giving it their top priority.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said department personnel and officers have been working tirelessly since Sept 11.

“It has been almost a month since Ops Global began.

“We have to expedite the process and wrap it all up within the detention period of the suspects, including GISB top leadership under Security Offences (Special Measures) Sosma 2012,” he told a press conference at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Thursday (Oct 10).

Comm Mohd Shuhaily indicated that the police had about a month to wrap up the investigation and prosecute the cases.

“However, if there is a need, we will apply for an extension of the Sosma detention,” he said.

While the number of investigating teams has reduced since Sept 11, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said further arrests will depend on the interrogation of suspects and obtaining credible leads.

Meanwhile, regarding actions that needed to be taken so that GISB would not be revived under the guise of a new entity, Comm Mohd Shuhaily said cooperation between relevant agencies is vital.

“It is because the scope of GISB is beyond mere ideology. It also has elements of socio-culture and socio-economy.

“We will leave it to the government to take the necessary action based on recommendations given.

“The rehabilitation of the members must be done holistically and thoroughly,” he said.
