On Tuesday, Russian gas giant Gazprom announced that global trade in liquified natural gas (LNG) had increased by 2 percent in the first three quarters of 2023 compared to the previous year. This information was revealed by the company in Moscow on November 28.
While global LNG trade had experienced a 4 percent growth in 2022 compared to 2021, the growth rate had slowed down to 2 percent in the first three quarters of 2023 when compared to the same period in 2022, according to Gazprom’s statement.
The statement also forecasted a significant increase in LNG production in the United States, Qatar, and Russia, while also predicting a decrease in production in Australia.
As per the statement, Russia has the potential to become one of the world’s top three LNG producers in the near future.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak previously reported that Russia’s share in the global LNG market is anticipated to rise to 20 percent by 2030, a marked increase from the current 8 percent share in 2023. TASS cited this statement in a report.
