IPOH: Approximately RM1 million worth of jewellery has been stolen from a goldsmith store in Tanjung Rambutan.
Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, the Ipoh OCPD, stated that the incident occurred between 1am and 3am on Wednesday (July 26).
The ACA confirmed that three suspects broke into the store by entering through the back door while wearing face masks.
“They successfully took off with approximately 3 kilograms worth of jewellery from the shop,” he said.
“To steal the items, the suspects utilized a grinder to forcefully open a safe,” Yahaya explained in a statement.
The shop owner reported the incident to the police around 10.30 am,” Yahaya added.
He further mentioned that the local authorities are actively working to locate and apprehend the three suspects.
The case has been filed under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which deals with break-ins and theft, and is currently under investigation.
“Individuals who possess information pertaining to the incident are encouraged to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation,” Yahaya urged.
