(Reuters) – Dylan Frittelli shot a three-under-par 69 in the third round of the Bahrain Championship on Saturday to take the overall lead, and is two shots ahead of Ockie Strydom. Frittelli’s performance put him at 12-under-par overall, with Strydom close behind at 10 under.
After recovering from a bogey early in the round, Frittelli hit five birdies, but a bogey on the last hole prevented him from widening the gap. Frittelli expressed satisfaction with his performance despite the setbacks, stating, “I’m happy, it was another tough day in the wind and I seemed to handle it pretty well… I fought really hard today.”
Frittelli, Joel Girrbach, and Jesper Svensson began the round as co-leaders, but Girrbach struggled early on, ending the day two-over par and falling to five shots off the lead. Svensson managed to stay in contention, finishing the round at nine-under-par overall.
Strydom, two shots behind the leaders at the start of play, also faced early difficulties with a bogey on the first hole. However, he managed to hit three consecutive birdies on the back nine, still ending the round two shots behind Frittelli.
