In Kota Kinabalu, a special event brought joy to a group of orphans as they went on a shopping spree for new Hari Raya clothes. The Chief Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Julia Salag, accompanied around 100 children under 12 years old on a trip to the Servay Hypermarket in Likas. Each child was given RM200 to spend on clothes during the outing on Tuesday (Apr 2).
Julia expressed her happiness to be a part of the programme designed to bring happiness to these children just before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. The initiative was made possible through the collaboration of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah Wanita and Kim Teck Cheong (KTC) Consolidated Bhd.
Encouraging others to follow suit, Julia called for more agencies, non-governmental organisations, and corporates to extend their generosity and kindness to those who are less fortunate. She extended her gratitude to the event organizers for their efforts in making the shopping trip a reality for the children.
Highlighting the importance of community involvement, Julia emphasized the need for everyone to fulfill their corporate social responsibilities. Such actions not only assist those in need but also contribute to the creation of a compassionate and caring society.
As the hot weather persists, Julia reminded parents to pay close attention to the health of their children. She advised caution during the Hari Raya season, specifically warning children against playing with fireworks for safety reasons. Additionally, she stressed the importance of adhering to road regulations and ensuring safety while travelling back to their hometowns.
