In Kota Kinabalu, a grassroots leader of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has urged all groups within the seven-party ruling state coalition to avoid internal conflict and collaborate as a united front to focus on the welfare of the people.

Datuk Mizma Appehdullah, the GRS Women’s Coordinator for Lahad Datu Zone, emphasized that each of the seven-party coalitions has its own strengths and roles to play, and the contribution made by each is vital to the strength and integrity of the alliance.

“GRS should serve as a model for unity among diverse ethnic and religious communities in this state.

“How can the people be expected to unite if the leaders are constantly at odds with each other? This impacts the stability of the state,” she said at the launch of the “Jelajah Wanita GRS ZON 6B” programme on Tuesday (Feb 6).

The programme was launched by GRS deputy chairman Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who was representing GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

The seven-member GRS is made up of all local parties: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Sabah STAR, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP), USNO, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat).

Mizma stressed that the coalition’s strength and integrity are crucial to ensuring the successful implementation of development goals, ensuring the welfare of the people, and upholding the governance of the state.

She called upon each component of the GRS to foster unity and strength within their respective parties in order to establish a formidable GRS.

Mizma, the Gagasan Rakyat Silam women’s division chief, also noted that the coalition’s women must work together to build strong working relationships among the coalition parties.

“The women’s machinery will serve as the backbone of the party, strengthening the party, especially in the upcoming State Election,” she added.

“It is imperative for each party component to demonstrate mutual respect and set aside differences in order to fortify this coalition,” Mizna said.

In his address, Pandikar emphasized the need for all component parties to continue to strive for the development of the state.
