MUAR: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is being accused of making unsubstantiated claims in an attempt to secure victory in the upcoming by-elections, according to Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
“Recently, he alleged that PAS terminated its collaboration with DAP because the party refused to support the Islamic state agenda in 2008. However, this is a false statement. It was actually PAS that opted against pursuing the concept of an Islamic state and instead advocated for a welfare state agenda. We even campaigned for this during the 12th General Election,” stated the Amanah president.
Mohamad made these remarks after the Ceramah Kelompok event held at Taman Sri Kasih on Monday (August 28) night.
Mohamad’s response was in reference to Abdul Hadi’s statements at Bakri PAS headquarters during a ceramah on Saturday (August 26).
“He even suggested that several former PAS leaders left the party due to fears of electoral defeat and established Amanah. However, our decision was not driven by fear. In fact, Abdul Hadi has been criticizing Umno for years, but suddenly in 2015, he decided to end the collaboration with DAP without any prior discussion and instead aligned with Umno,” explained Mohamad.
“Furthermore, the issues of hudud were never raised when Perikatan Nasional came into power, even though there was a memorandum between the government and the Opposition. While I still hold respect for him as my former leader, given his current health condition, he should cease spreading falsehoods and retire peacefully from politics,” he added.
