NEW DELHI, July 8 (Xinhua) – In the wake of heavy rains that have struck the Indian capital, one person has tragically lost their life and almost 30 others have sustained injuries. The downpour caused the collapse of up to 15 houses, prompting officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) department to report on the incident.
These incidents of house collapses have occurred in various parts of Delhi, including the southern, central, and northern regions. The most severe casualty took place in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh area.
Fortunately, the All India Radio (AIR) has provided a report detailing the extent of the heavy rainfall that struck different parts of Delhi on Saturday. According to their findings, moderate to heavy rainfall was experienced, with the Ridge Observatory in the city recording a significant 111.4 mm of rain.
While the rainfall has certainly been beneficial, it has also triggered instances of waterlogging in various parts of the city. As a result, commuters have encountered difficulties reaching their destinations, stuck in massive traffic jams. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a continuation of heavy rains on Sunday, with a generally cloudy sky prevailing.
