Heavy traffic is expected at both the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints in the lead-up to and during the period from Aug 31 to Sept 11, 2023, as Singaporeans cross into Malaysia ahead of the long weekend and school holidays in September.
The Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has noted that there was continuous heavy traffic at the land checkpoints during the June school holidays, with nearly 250,000 departing travelers on June 1, 2023.
During the weekend of June 16 to June 18, 2023, more than 1.2 million travelers, averaging over 400,000 crossings per day, used the land checkpoints.
The ICA’s website mentioned that car travelers had to wait for up to three hours before being cleared through immigration during peak periods.
The Authority advises travelers to Malaysia to anticipate additional waiting time for immigration clearance, particularly on weekends.
