The priority request for the Johor government in Budget 2024 will be the development fund for Hospital Sultanah Aminah 2 (HSA 2), according to Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Johor Mentri Besar. The Health and Defence ministries are in agreement with this plan. In his speech at the dialogue session with the Prime Minister at the Budget 2024 Roadshow, Onn Hafiz stated that the demand for this project has continuously been on the top of his list. He also mentioned that the current HSA is unable to meet the demands for healthcare services. Suitable land for HSA 2 has been identified through the cooperation of the Health and Defence ministries.

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, and Deputy Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, attended the programme. Onn Hafiz expressed his gratitude for selecting Johor as the first state to conduct the roadshow. Other budget requests from Johor include repairing roads, water supply and flood mitigation projects. Additionally, there is a need to upgrade schools and expand internet connectivity. Onn Hafiz also mentioned the success of Johor in attracting foreign direct investments, which amounted to RM70.6 billion last year. He added that the previously announced budget to improve the highway network in Pengerang and upgrade sections of the North-South Expressway would further benefit the people in Johor.

In July 13, Onn Hafiz announced that a special committee would be formed to discuss the construction of HSA 2. He had a meeting with the Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, regarding the matter, as the land in Skudai earmarked for the hospital project is owned by the Ministry of Defence.
