MOSCOW (Reuters) – Yulia Navalny, the wife of Alexei Navalny, expressed her love for her husband through a post on social media accompanied by a picture of them together. The Instagram post depicted the couple with their heads touching as they watched a performance of some kind.
Alexei Navalny, a 47-year-old former lawyer, was reported to have fallen unconscious and died after a walk at the “Polar Wolf” penal colony in Kharp, approximately 1,900 km (1,200 miles) northeast of Moscow, where he was serving a three-decade sentence, according to the prison service.
Following Navalny’s death, Western leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, honored Navalny’s bravery and, without providing evidence, accused President Vladimir Putin of being responsible for the death. The United Kingdom stated that there would be consequences for Russia.
In response, the Kremlin labeled the West’s reaction as unacceptable and “absolutely rabid”. President Putin has yet to comment on Navalny’s death. (Reporting by Maxim Rodionov; editing by Guy Faulconbridge)
