KOTA KINABALU: Three Immigration Department officials were remanded for six days to facilitate investigations into a passport falsification case involving some 100 applications.

The trio, Amir Shahril Amir Hassan, Tanan @ Denan Awang and Mohd Najmie Ibtisam Ag Bakar, were nabbed on July 17 after giving their statements at the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here.

The suspects, aged 40 to 50, were brought before Magistrate Wan Farrah Fariza on Thursday (July 18) for the remand order.

The remand order ends July 24.

Amir and Tanan were represented, but Najmie was not.

The officers were alleged to have received around RM300,000 in bribes since 2023 following a recent passport renewal syndicate bust here.

These arrests are part of Ops Terbang, the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) operation, following a month of investigation into this case.
