HOUSTON, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) — The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Wednesday that crude oil imports and exports in the United States increased during the week ending July 28.
Last week, U.S. crude oil imports averaged 6.668 million barrels per day (b/d), a rise of 301,000 b/d compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, crude oil exports averaged 5.283 million b/d, an increase of 692,000 b/d from the previous week, according to the EIA’s Weekly Petroleum Status Report.
Over the last four weeks, U.S. crude oil imports averaged about 6.523 million b/d, representing a 2.3 percent decrease from the same four-week period last year.
During the same period, U.S. crude oil exports averaged about 3.958 million b/d, reflecting a 6.7 percent increase year on year.
The United States has become a significant global oil producer in recent years, largely due to the growth in shale oil production.
