In Johor Baru, a police inspector and seven other personnel have been apprehended for an extortion case involving RM35,000, according to Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar.
The arrested individuals were from the Narcotics Department at the Seri Alam police headquarters.
Comm M. Kumar stated, “We were informed about the extortion incident through a report filed at 9.32pm on Monday (Feb 5).”
He mentioned that the suspects, whose ages range from 20 to 50, have been detained until Friday (Feb 9) for questioning under Section 384 of the Penal Code related to extortion.
“The case is currently under investigation, and the public is cautioned against making statements or speculating which could impact the investigation process,” he advised.
Comm Kumar also emphasized that the state police is dedicated to upholding integrity and eradicating misconduct among its officers and personnel to bolster public trust in the force.
He further stated, “We will not compromise on such matters and will take strict action.”
