According to Khaled Geyushi, the vice chairman of Egypt’s Geyushi Automotive Industry, Chinese cars have a promising future in Egypt’s auto market, which now heavily relies on China for cars and buses. In a recent interview with Xinhua, Geyushi emphasized that Chinese cars have significantly improved in quality and come at reasonable prices for Egyptian customers.
Geyushi mentioned that his company has been partnering with Chinese companies, such as Yutong and Zhongtong, for seven years to assemble their buses in Egypt. He added that the high quality of Chinese cars, along with strong local agents and service centers, has left Egyptian customers satisfied with their purchase in recent years.
Geyushi acknowledged the strong presence of Chinese cars in the Egyptian market, particularly with renowned local agents like Mansour Automotive for MG and Abu Ghaly Motors for Geely. He expressed optimism about the future of Chinese cars in Egypt, stating that it is very promising.
With its advanced manufacturing facility in Egypt, Geyushi Automotive Industry currently produces around 5,000 buses annually, including Chinese brands. Geyushi recommended the establishment of an automobile industrial complex in Egypt to manufacture Chinese cars and their components for export. He believes that Egypt possesses the necessary resources and free trade agreements for zero-customs exportation.
Geyushi also highlighted the potential benefits of manufacturing Chinese vehicles in Egypt, including technology localization and increased employment opportunities. A report by the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC) revealed that China’s Chery, MG, and BYD were among the top ten car brands sold in Egypt in the first 10 months of 2023.
Geyushi advised Chinese automobile companies in Egypt to invest more in publicity, marketing, and service centers to further enhance their growth. He firmly believes that Chinese cars will become much more popular in the Egyptian market in the coming years.
