    Ipoh cops nab suspect over murder of Gunung Lang campsite guard

    A 31-year-old man who was not currently employed has been apprehended by the authorities on suspicion of being involved in the killing of a security guard at a camping site in Gunung Lang, located in Ipoh. The arrest was made by the police in Kampung Manjoi on Wednesday (Jan 3) at approximately 1.45pm, following a report that was received from the public about the discovery of the victim.

    Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan, who is the OCPD in Ipoh, disclosed that they were alerted at around 2.30am that the victim had been found injured at the campsite.

    Unfortunately, he was declared deceased at the scene by medical personnel from the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital,” he stated in a release made on Wednesday.”

    “The post mortem examination revealed that the deceased passed away as a result of coronary artery disease, which was accompanied by blunt and sharp injuries,” he further added.

    Regarding the reason behind the murder, ACP Yahaya mentioned that this matter was still under investigation.

    He remarked, “Our belief is that only the suspect and the victim were present at the location before the incident occurred.

    “When the man’s background was checked, it was discovered that he had been involved in 10 previous cases related to crime and drugs,” he said, in addition to confirming that the accused had tested positive for methamphetamine.

    “Further investigations revealed that the man had previously sought psychiatric treatment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta.

    “We are confident that the case has been solved with his arrest,” he concluded.

    He conveyed that the suspect will be taken to a Magistrate’s Court to secure a remand order on Thursday (Jan 4).

    “The police will finalize the investigation paper and submit it to the deputy public prosecutor’s office with a recommendation to charge the suspect,” he further mentioned.
