According to Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri, the police arrested a 45-year-old security guard at a primary school in Teluk Intan for allegedly molesting a seven-year-old girl. The arrest was made after receiving a report from another security guard at the school on Wednesday (Jan 31) at about 10am.
It was reported that the man allegedly attempted to hug and outrage the modesty of the pupil in front of a classroom at about 6.30am. ACP Ahmad Adnan stated, “The complainant was making his rounds at the premises when he stumbled upon the incident. After getting the report, we rushed over and arrested the suspect.”
The victim claimed that the suspect had attempted to molest her at the school multiple times. ACP Ahmad Adnan also mentioned that the suspect confessed to being involved during the interrogation.
Following the arrest, the police obtained an order from the Teluk Intan Magistrate Court to remand the suspect to facilitate further investigations under Section 14(4) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act. The suspect is scheduled to be remanded for six days until Feb 6.
Furthermore, ACP Ahmad Adnan stated that the investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office with a recommendation to press charges. If convicted, the suspect could face up to 20 years in jail and whipping as punishment.
