(Reuters) – Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred in Brussels on Monday, as stated by the group’s channel on Telegram on Tuesday. They reported that one of their fighters carried out the assault, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
Belgian officials have identified the suspect behind the shooting of two Swedish football fans, which resulted in the death of both victims and the injury of another individual, in Brussels. The suspect, a 45-year-old Tunisian, had his asylum application rejected in 2020 but continued to reside illegally in Belgium.
Following an intensive overnight search, the police encountered the suspect at a cafe in the Schaerbeek district of northern Brussels on Tuesday morning, leading to a fatal gunshot exchange.
