KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor stated that the imprisonment of Spanish arbitrator Dr Gonzalo Stampa demonstrates that the claims of the so-called Sulu Sultanate on Sabah were unfounded.
The Sabah Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman and the federal government, affirming that the decision validates what Sabah has been asserting all along.
“We appreciate Azalina and the government because it is finally proven that there is no basis to the Sulu claim,” he told reporters after an event in Kota Kinabalu on Tuesday (Jan 9).
“There are elements of profit-making and other forms of benefit, including by the arbitrator Stampa himself,” he added.
