    Jepak polls: Three-way fight for Sarawak state seat

    The Jepak by-election in Bintulu will be a three-way contest, as the nomination centre closed on Saturday (Oct 21) at 10am.

    The returning officer, Abang Zainuddin Abang Turkey, announced that three candidates successfully filed their nomination papers.

    The candidates are Iskandar Turkee of Gabungan Parti Sarawak, Joseph Sumbang of Parti Bumi Kenyalang, and Chieng Lea Ping of Aspirasi.

    The by-election was called after the death of six-term assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilp on September 15 at the age of 72 due to health complications.

    The Election Commission has set November 4 as the polling day.

    Jepak has 22,804 registered voters according to the electoral roll as of September 15.
