    Jill Biden positive for COVID, President Biden tests negative – White house

    (Reuters) – The White House announced on Monday that U.S. first lady Jill Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. Despite showing mild symptoms, President Joe Biden tested negative for the virus. Jill Biden, who is 72 years old, had previously contracted COVID-19 in August of last year, while the now 80-year-old president last tested positive in July 2022.

    In a statement, Jill Biden’s communications director, Elizabeth Alexander, confirmed the positive test, stating that the first lady will be staying at their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Later that evening, President Biden flew back to Washington alone from Delaware.

    The White House also reported that following the first lady’s positive test, President Biden was administered a COVID test, which came back negative. It was further announced that the president will continue to be tested regularly throughout the week and monitor for any symptoms.

    News of Jill Biden’s positive test comes as the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact individuals from all walks of life. It serves as a reminder that no one is immune to the virus, even those who may have previously been infected or fully vaccinated.
