KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul expressed his hopes that more Members of Parliament (MPs) will promptly undergo mandatory health screenings, following Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli’s hospitalization for a heart ailment. Johari wished for Rafizi’s speedy recovery in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on October 21. He also urged MPs to complete their health screenings before the October 31 deadline. Last month, Johari informed MPs that it is a precautionary measure for all of them to undergo these examinations due to 11 MPs collapsing in Parliament over the past 15 years. Furthermore, since the 2018 general election, four MPs have died mainly due to heart attacks.
Moreover, Johari reiterated that MPs are allowed to carry out their health screenings at private medical facilities. He emphasized the importance of Parliament keeping a copy of MPs’ medical records in case of any medical emergencies. Currently, approximately 100 MPs have already completed their health screenings.
Syafakillah. Mendoakan kesembuhan segera buat YB Tuan Mohd Rafizi Ramli @rafiziramli, Insya-Allah.
Saya berharap agar lebih ramai Ahli-ahli Yang Berhormat segera menjalani pemeriksaan kesihatan sebelum 31 Oktober 2023 untuk memastikan tahap kesihatan dalam keadaan baik.
