JOHOR BARU: The Johor state government is set to launch pilot schools next year in a bid to advance the state education system, aiming to make it more competitive and progressive.

Its Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said that this initiative would be carried out in collaboration with the Johor State Education Department (JPNJ).

“This initiative is in line with the directives of Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who has emphasized the importance of high-quality education.

“Special attention will be given to mastering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), as well as the English language,” he said in a statement on his Facebook on Saturday (July 27).

As a start, the pilot project will involve two primary schools and two secondary schools, which are currently being selected by the JPNJ.

He added that he hopes that the Johor pilot school initiative would yield a positive outcome for the state’s future.
