The Johor Education Department is currently looking into a teacher who is accused of selling ketum in Pasir Gudang. Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin stated that he had asked the department to investigate after a social media post alleged the teacher’s involvement. An X (formerly Twitter) user with the handle “Wawawehhh” posted a claim that a male school teacher was selling ketum in Pasir Gudang, which garnered over 1.7 million views. Meanwhile, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak mentioned that the police are currently looking into the allegations made by the X user.
The initial investigation by the police revealed that the post is linked to a police report from January 11 this year, where a woman reported being sexually abused by her husband last October at 11pm in Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang. The suspect, a 29-year-old man, was arrested on January 13 and placed under remand until January 19 before being released on police bail. The case has been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office for further action.
The case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, which could result in a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail and whipping if convicted.
