The Japanese ambassador to Malaysia, Katsuhiko Takahashi, celebrated Malaysia’s 66th National Day by sending his best wishes to Malaysians in a unique way. On the embassy’s official social media pages (Facebook and X), he shared a two-minute video where he delighted in “mamak” delicacies, which he described as an integral part of Malaysian culture.
In the video, Ambassador Takahashi expressed his well wishes, saying, “I would like to wish ‘Selamat Hari Merdeka’ (Happy Independence Day) to all our Malaysian friends. We truly hope that Malaysia will always continue to be blessed with peace and prosperity.
He further explained, “To celebrate Merdeka, I came to enjoy ‘Kedai Mamak’ with my embassy colleagues; mamak food is a significant part of Malaysian culture, thus I’m very happy to try it.”
The ambassador was seen savoring various Mamak food and drinks, including “Nasi Kandar,” “Maggi Goreng,” “teh tarik,” “roti tisu,” and “roti canai”.
The primary celebration of this year’s National Day took place at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31st. The theme of the celebration, “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan” (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope), aligns with the framework of the new vision for Malaysia Madani. This vision is supported by the unity government and aims to enhance the spirit of unity among Malaysians, which has long been prevalent. – Bernama
