Kenyan President William Ruto has urged Africa’s youth to lead the continent’s efforts on climate action. Speaking at the African Youth Climate Assembly in Nairobi, Ruto emphasized that young people possess the energy and skills needed to drive climate-smart solutions and shape Africa’s agenda. The assembly, themed “African-led Solutions to Global Challenges,” brought together youth activists and raised awareness about Africa’s unique climate vulnerabilities. It also highlighted the significant contributions made by African youth to global climate solutions.
Ruto commended the youth for their persistence in demanding opportunities and promised to advocate for the resolutions and declaration of the assembly at the upcoming Africa Climate Summit. The summit, scheduled for September 4-6, is set to be attended by over 20 African heads of state and government, climate experts from Africa and around the world, and numerous delegates.
