KOTA TINGGI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the only leader who cares about the welfare of the students and youths in the country, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The Higher Education Minister said the “Temu Anwar” programme held in universities around the states is aimed at sharing the government’s vision and getting feedback from youths on the improvements that can be made in the country.

“If you listen to his (Anwar’s) speech, he wanted our students to not only think creatively, but also critically.

“He is urging our youths not to be obsessed and to use their rational thinking when making decisions.

“If I were in his position, I would have said the same thing to our youths,” he said when met by reporters after the launching ceremony of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris’s Smart Home Schooling at SMK Tan Sri Jaafar Albar, Sedili, here on Saturday (July 22).

The “Temu Anwar” programme is aimed at producing youths that are physically, mentally, and spiritually strong, which is in line with the Malaysia Madani agenda, he added.

He said this when asked to comment on Besut MP Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh’s calls for Anwar to stop meeting with the students and focus on managing the country’s economy.

Che Mohamad also claimed that the programme is also seen as an open political campaign that aims to influence students for the coming six state elections.

“No, this has nothing to do with the state elections. He (Anwar) only wanted to share the government’s vision,” Mohamed Khaled added.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Khaled said he is praying for Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub’s quick recovery.

“I hope everything goes well and hope for his speedy recovery,” he said.

The Pulai MP suffered a brain haemorrhage on Friday (July 21) night.

The Amanah deputy president was rushed to the hospital for treatment at 10.15pm after experiencing nausea and vomiting.
