KUALA LUMPUR: The King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim, and the Queen of Malaysia, Raja Zarith Sofiah, sent their greetings for Federal Territories Day on Thursday (Feb 1).
The royal couple conveyed their wishes through a poster uploaded to the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page.
Sultan Ibrahim’s coronation as the 17th King of Malaysia took place in a ceremony steeped in tradition at Istana Negara yesterday.
He replaced Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of Pahang, whose five-year term as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong ended on Tuesday (Jan 30).
Every year on Feb 1, Federal Territories Day is celebrated to mark the declaration of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan as Federal Territories.
Kuala Lumpur was designated a Federal Territory in 1974, Labuan in 1984, and Putrajaya in 2001. – Bernama
