PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Ir Lim Hock San, executive chairman of LBS Bina Group Bhd, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Management by UNITAR International University at their 23rd convocation ceremony. This honor was given in recognition of his outstanding leadership in guiding LBS to become one of Malaysia’s most reputable property developers and his significant contributions to Malaysia-China relations through his roles in non-governmental organizations.

Lim, who is a professional engineer and an adjunct professor at UNITAR International University, graduated with First-Class Honors in Civil Engineering from the University of Wales, Science and Technology in 1982. Upon returning to Malaysia, he played a crucial role in transforming LBS into a well-known name in the Malaysian property market, which was founded by his late father, Datuk Seri Lim Bock Seng.

With over 40 years of experience in property development, Lim has successfully led LBS, positioning it as one of Malaysia’s best-managed companies — a distinction recognized by Deloitte in 2022-2023.

Under his leadership, the company has achieved significant milestones, constructing over 40,000 homes across Malaysia and achieving sales exceeding RM2bil in 2022, showcasing its strong financial performance and consistent delivery of dividends to shareholders.

During his acceptance speech, Lim expressed gratitude for the Honorary Doctorate, dedicating it to his late father and emphasizing the crucial role played by him in the company’s journey.

Lim’s dedication extends beyond business, as he serves as the president of the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia, the largest Chinese clan-based association in the country. He also holds the position of vice president of the Federation of Lim Malaysia and serves in various advisory and honorary capacities across numerous associations and bodies in Malaysia.
