Lockbit, a well-known cybercrime group that extorts ransom from its victims by holding their data hostage, has been disrupted in a rare multinational law enforcement operation by the National Crime Agency of the UK and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to a message posted on the gang’s extortion website on Monday.
The message read, “This site is now under the control of the National Crime Agency of the UK, working in close cooperation with the FBI and the international law enforcement task force, ‘Operation Cronos’.”
